Thank you so much for checking out my online shop and gallery.

My name is Rachel Newell and I am a mixed media analog collage artist. I have been cutting up magazines since I was a little kid. My mom taught me how to collage, along with many other art forms but collage is something that always stuck with me. Much of what I am doing today is because of my incredibly talented, artistic mom and her influence of my life. She taught my sister, Megan and I the importance of art at a very young age. I am lucky to be surrounded by artists in my family. Besides my artistic mom, my sister is a talented artist and photographer and my dad is an extremely creative welding artist. Their love and support continues to help shape me into who I am today.

Collage art has always been a hobby of mine, but over the past few years, I have been lucky enough to consider creating art a part time job that I truly love and enjoy. I have been fortunate enough to be a part of group shows, solo shows, and even an international show. Two of my pieces have also been featured in art parks in Peoria, Illinois. And I have also been able to create live art at galleries and events.

I currently live in my hometown, Chillicothe, Illinois, with my boyfriend and best friend Rex. I am so grateful for the support of Rex, my partner in life. He is my inspiration and my "idea guy" and I would not be creating without him. Our house is constantly filled with various scraps of paper, much to the enjoyment of our roommates, our orange tabby cats, Archer and Amos.

My artwork is inspired by the mystery of life and love, by the beauty of the world around us that we tend to be blind to, and by the continuous growth of the human condition through science and knowledge. I strive to create surreal pieces that feel more like a dream than "real life."  There is never a dull moment and the urge to create is strong, as I know it is, among most artists. I am grateful for every opportunity that life presents me and I will continue to create as long as people enjoy what I am making.

Thank you again for taking the time to view my creations. I hope you enjoy what you see today. Feel free to email me with any questions, comments, or requests.
